Hypnotherapy might sound a little unconventional but it’s very natural. We’re all in a trance like state many times a day, like when we are driving (ever feel like you are auto-pilot?), or taking a shower (how many great ideas do you get whilst in the shower or bath?). Even getting lost in a good book can put you in a similar state. There’s absolutely no mind control involved.
This relaxed state allows for changes in your conscious awareness, similar to being in a day dream. It lets you focus better on helpful thoughts and suggestions. When your mind isn’t focused on stress and worry, you body can begin to feel relaxed again, and your mind more confident and in control. Let me help you transform that chaos and overwhelm into calm!
What’s great about this approach is that its a lovely combination of talking therapy and hypnosis. The talking bit is solution focused, which means we will look at building your future and creating your best path forward. We won’t need to discuss you past experiences in order to move towards positive lasting change. The aim of this part of the therapy is to gently start to challenge your beliefs, habits and limitations in a safe space. I want you to start to visualise what your best future might look like. If your problems were to disappear, what would that feel like and what would your life look like?
We’ll also talk a little about the brain in our sessions, which can enable you to understand why you might be feeling and acting the way you are. It’s incredibly empowering to gain a basic understanding of what’s going on up there.
And then the best part, the lovely relaxation session. This will take around 25 minutes and all you will need to do is get comfy whilst I guide you into a calm and relaxed state. It’s like a day dream where your mind can rest and reflect on everything we have talked about during our sessions.
Generally people will require around 6-12 sessions. Some phobias can be helped in as little as 4 sessions. But, we are all unique and sometimes I may need to see you for a little longer.
